Summer Term 1
This half term our new topic is 'Paws, claws and whiskers.' We will be looking into humans and animals throughout the next couple of weeks. The books we will be reading are 'Giraffe's can't dance,' 'The tiger that came to tea,' and 'Hedgehog's big day!' We will be writing invitations, character descriptions, narratives, changing a character in a story and much more. We will also be looking closely at writing features such as adjectives, nouns and verbs adding suffixes like -ing, -ed, -er and -est. In Science we will be locating where different animals live in the world and how they adapt to their habitat. We will be sorting and classifying animals into groups such as herbivores and carnivores. We will be comparing our human body to animals and how we differ but also are similar. In class we will be focusing on seasons and how this may differ around the world. In Maths we will be looking at length and height and practicing number bonds to 20. We will be revisiting throughout addition and subtraction to 20 to help children have a great number sense.
This week is STEM week and in Holly class we are learning all about birds.
Today we went on a bird watching and found some common British birds. We then created our own nests using natural resources from outside just like a bird!

Partake came in to tell us all about old and new toys. We learnt about the changes over time and how we use toys such as pushing and pulling to make a toy move. We talk about how nowadays we use batteries and technology has grown such as I-pads. We also discussed the difference in materials used over time.

The children have been learning about subtraction. We have partitioned the 2- digit number and taken the ones away from the ones.
We used ten frames and cubes to prove our understanding.
World book day - 08.03.18
The children have loved dressing up as their favourite character for world book day!
Re - Easter 07.03.18
