Our topic this half term is Italy and is predominantly geography based. During this topic, the children will use maps and atlases to discover where Italy is located and where the Italian Alps mountain range and the Vesuvius volcano are located within Italy. We will compare different types of rocks and learn how fossils are formed. To help us understand all about fossils, we are going to be visiting the Dinosaurs of China exhibition at Wollaton Hall. As well as all that, the children will use a selection of tools to construct their own model volcano. We will also listen to and give our opinions on a selection of classical opera music from Italian composers. We will conclude our topic with an Italian Day where we will make our own pizzas and invite our families into school to share them with us.
