WC 28.11.22
In literacy the children will retell the Christmas Story and draw a text map.
In maths they will learn to represent quantities up to 5.
In phonics they will read and write words with -ll, f, -ff, -ss.
In enquiry they will explore that we celebrate different festivals and they are celebrated in different ways.
WC 21.11.22
In literacy the children will start to write parts of a letter to invite a friend to a party, applying their phonics knowledge and their composition skills.
In maths they will learn to decompose and compose parts of numbers up to 5 and create more complex patterns such an ABC and ABB
In phonics they will learn the sounds l, -ll, f, -ff
In enquiry we will reflect how our environment changes as we go through each season.
We will also start learning how to safely use a device, by recording each other and playing the video with supervision.
W/C 14.11.22
In literacy the children will use the model letter shared with the class to compose their own letter, by changing parts of it.
In maths, children will learn to recognise parts that make a whole in objects and to make a complex pattern (ABC)
In phonics we will introduce the sounds g, o, u and practice reading these sounds within different contexts.
In enquiry we will talk about Autumn, reflecting on the changes that happen in this season and on what season comes before and after Autumn.
It's anti-bullying week, therefore we are reflecting on ways to be kind and promote kindness between peers and with adults.
W/C 7.11.22
In Literacy we will be writing a letter to invite a friend to a party inspired to the story 'The Jolly Postman'
In Maths we will compare quantities and learn to describe groups as more than, fewer than and equal to. We will also revisit AB patterns and introduce more complex patterns (ABB, ABC).
In Phonics we will be starting Book 2 and introduce the sounds m, d, g.
In Enquiry we will discuss bonfire night and the story behind it (Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot) as well as making poppies and learn about Remembrance day.
The children will continue learning a sequence of movements with their dance teacher.
W/C 1.11.22
On our first week back we will learn:
In Literacy: A list poem about Diwali. The children will be supported in choosing characters from the story of Rama and Sita and from the tradition of Diwali, to make a list poem.
In maths: I can count how many are altogether (to 5). They will practice counting groups of objects to 5, practice counting accurately and being able to tell the total amount. They will also practice simple and more complex patterns with interesting activities in our environment.
In Enquiry we will talk about festivals that are important to different people around the world.
We will also start our dance unit with an Outside Agency in PE.

This week's learning
In literacy we will practice writing parts of a recount of a day, following a model shared in the classroom.
In Maths we will talk about the days of the week and the idea of time (yesterday/today/tomorrow) and keep exploring 2D shapes in the environment.
In Phonics we will learn the sounds: h, th,r and the word the.
In Enquiry we will discuss special events and how they are unique to a person.
WC 3.10.22
This week's learning:
In literacy we will change some events in our recount of little owl's sad day and make it our own recount. We will use new vocabulary in context and find new, more interesting words to describe emotions as well as practicing reading by placing our finger under each word and segmenting simple words (eg sad, mum, I).
In maths we will introduce the concept of more and fewer when comparing a group of objects or pictorial representations.
In phonics we will review all the sounds done so far using mini-stories to practice early reading and writing as well as introducing the sound e.
In enquiry we are exploring Beeston and places that we know. We are learning that beeston is a town and is in Nottingham through a variety of practicle activities within the provision.
WC 19.09.22
We will be learning about writing a part of the story of 'The Three Little Pigs.' In phonics we will be learning the letter codes and their sounds of n, c, k, -ck, e. We will be learning about how numbers can be composed of 1s understanding the whole can be made of bigger parts such as 3 can be composed of 2 and 1.
