This week we have been learning about bubbles - school bubbles, home bubbles and personal bubbles.
We explored real bubbles to help us understand more :)
We went outside and talked about the changes in weather and what we need to wear and why it is important.
We have been cooking biscuits this week :)
Welcome back and a happy new year!
In reception for spring term 1 we will be learning about different occupations. For the first 2 weeks we will be exploring veterinarians. We have a visit the first Friday back from a fantastic vet. Here are a few things we will be learning in the provision: number bonds to 5 and reading and writing simple sentences.
This morning the children took spare food from their Christmas Party to the local Beeston Hope House.
We sang Christmas songs and wished them a Merry Christmas!
Santa visited us!

Thank you to those parents who attended homework assembly to share pictures of celebrations such as a, 'holiday,' 'EID,' and a baby shower. It was lovely to see parents sharing their memories with their children :).
This week our book of the week is 'Leaf Man.' We will be learning to describe Leaf Man and labeling our drawings of him using our phonic knowledge. We will also be learning to name, show quantity, estimate, order and subitize numbers to 5. Have a look at our learning environment this week.
This week we are celebrating Halloween! Our book of the week 'Pumpkin Soup.' We are moving onto phase 3 phonics and practising our segmenting and blending. We are going to be either labelling or writing a recipe to make a silly soup. Have a look at some work and what we have this week in the provision.
This week our book of the week is 'The Queen is coming to tea.' We will be having a special visitor on Thursday. We will be continuing to work on writing our names and initial sounds. Some of us are working on writing words or phrases using our key words. We will be writing a shopping list for the tea party. In Maths we will be learning to count to 10 and showing this amount using concrete objects in different ways and matching this to the numeral. We will also be counting from different numbers to 10 and counting backwards. See below some of the learning environment.

This week our book of the week is 'The Queen's Knickers!' The children will be labelling their pictures and decorating using a repeated pattern. They will also be practising writing their name. Some children will be writing phrases with support. In maths we will be learning to count objects that cannot be moved up to 5.
Please read every night with your child to help them with their confidence in reading and writing.
Our book of the week is 'the naughty bus.' We will be learning to hold a pencil and write our names. We will also be learning to hear and say the initial sounds and some of us to spell simple words to label. In maths we will be learning our numbers to 5 with an in depth understanding to show the quantity, recognise and write the numerals., count from different numbers forwards and backwards. This week we have been making FRUIT FACES! The children have been working on their cutting skills to cut the bananas.

First week back at school and the children have all settled in so well in their new classrooms! We are very proud of all their work and efforts so far!
