Autumn term 2020
This term our topic is 'What Makes Beeston Brilliant?' This is primarily a geography based topic however we will be doing lots of fun art, ICT, PSHE and PE activities too.
We will begin by learning about the directions north, east, south and west and practise talking about which direction we are travelling in when moving around the school. We will examine a simple map with a key and then have a go at creating our own treasure map.
We will then discuss the differece between human geographical features and physical geographical features. We will then investigate which human features we can find in our local area, such as houses, parks and shops.
We will be discussing the different types of weather we have in Beeston too.
Spring term 2020
This term we have lots of exciting learning planned! We will begin by investigating which materials are best to make a sturdy house in science. Then, in DT we plan to make bird houses and feeders for the local wildlife out of appropriately chosen resources.
Later this term, we will be comparing and sorting animals by their physical features and diets. We will be talking about what carnivores, herbivores and omnivores are and discussing whether certain animals live in hot or cold places (or maybe even both if you are a penguin).
