Maths fluency

GPS: LC: I can identify conjunctions.

The conjunctions that we look at in year 1 are the words and, but, so and because.

They can be used once per sentence and always come in the middle.

Spot the conjunctions in the sentences below:

I made a cake but I ran out of sugar.

I needed some sugar so I walked to my neighbour's house.

I rang the doorbell but there was no answer.

I sneezed and the house fell down.

I ate the pig because I didn't want a big ham dinner to go to waste.

Deeper learning - Fill in the gaps with the best conjunction that fits:

The pig died __________ I ate him.

I felt bad ____________________ I killed the pig.

I walked to my neighbours house ____________ asked for a cup of sugar.

Enquiry - I know features of hot and cold places in the world.
