Week 5+6 Learning

You have two types of lessons this week:

Reading Comprehensions

 

For the Reading Comprehensions, make sure you continue to use R.E.D

 

For the visualising lessons, use the video below to help you.  

 

Visualising in Reading

1. Read the text.
2. Pick out the key parts to draw.
3. Annotate the text with the retrieved information.

Lesson 1: Reading Comprehension - The Naughty Bus

Lesson 2: To visualise what you have read

Teacher's Instructions 

1. Read the text to yourself. Make sure that you understand it all. (Clarify any vocabulary that you have not understood). 

 

2. Close your eyes and begin to paint a picture in your mind using words and phrases from the text. 

 

3. Visualise what you have just read by drawing it. Include all of the small details! 

 

4. Deeper Learning Challenge - annotate your drawing with arrows and writing to show what information you have retrieved from the text. 

 

Deeper Learning Challenge Example 

This is Mrs Tyler's example of the Deeper Learning Challenge. She has annotated the image with lots of retrieved words and phrases from the text to show why she has drawn them. 

You are all really good at this in the classroom so give it a go!

Lesson 3: Reading Comprehension -The London Underground

Today you can choose your own book and draw a picture to illustrate what the text is telling you. Just remember to annotate it afterwards with the retrieved information from the book.
