Over the first half of the autumn term, the Year 4 children will focus on developing their knowledge of place value. Working through the 'Maths - No Problem!' scheme of work, children will be building on their understanding of this essential mathematical area. By the end of the unit, the children will be able to read, write, order and compare numbers with increasing accuracy. They will be counting forwards and backwards in a variety of multiples and they will be using their estimating and rounding skills.
We will then be moving on to methods for addition and subtraction.
How can I support my child in maths?
In addition to their dedicated maths lessons, the children also have daily arithmetic and a focused fluency session to develop their times tables skills. Your child will be allocated a specific times table to learn based on gaps in their knowledge. Please support your child to help them learn their multiplication tables at home.
