Useful Information
What do I need to bring to school?
Please come to school in school uniform.
Please make sure any clothing you might take off is labelled with your name.
On PE days (see your year group page), you can come to school in PE kit. PE kit is a white or navy plain T-shirt, and navy or block shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms, plus dark plain coloured trainers.
You should bring a coat and a water bottle.
You do not need to bring any other personal belongings as school will provide your pens, pencils, etc.
If you think you need to bring something else, please discuss it with your teacher
What is the school day like?
You should arrive by 8.55am, but we open the doors from 8.45am so that you can arrive and get settled before the day starts.
KS1 and 2 have break at 10.40am to 10.55am.
We have lunch at these times:
Reception - 11.45am - 12.45pm
KS1 - 11.55am - 12.55pm
KS2 - 12.15pm - 1.15pm
Lunchtime includes a period of fun outside play, supervised by our midday supervisors. As we are a healthy school, please provide your child with a healthy lunchbox if your child is not having a school dinner. As we have children with nut allergies, please ensure there are no nut products brought to school. You can view the weekly dinner menu choices by clicking here.
Do I need to do homework?
The most important homework is to read.
Please also practise your maths on Numbots (EYFS and KS1) and Times Tables Rock Stars (Y2-Y6).
Any homework linked to your enquiry will be shown on your class page.
Boom Reader is a fantastic way of tracking your child’s home reading, with an easy to use interface and ‘gem’ based incentives that reward children for logging their reading out of school. Children are expected to read with an adult three times a week to help them build up essential skills such as fluency, pace and stamina. These are invaluable to our developing learners.
Communication
Across Beeston Fields School, we use an app called 'Class Dojo' to communicate with families via 1:1 messenger, Class Story and School Story.
This is a free app and parents are not required to upgrade to the 'premium' version advertised by the app itself; the standard version will offer all the features needed to engage with the content we share via Class Dojo.
Staff check their Dojo messages during working hours (8am - 4pm) and you can usually expect a reply to personal messages within 2 working days.
