In Year 3, we learn our spellings on a Monday and have the whole week to learn the words, before our Spelling Quiz on Fridays.  The spellings will be put on Class Dojo each Friday.

Here are some ways for you to practice your spellings.

1. Spelling word memory - create a double set of word cards and play a game of Spelling Word Memory by spreading out the cards face down and then taking turns flipping two cards at a time to find a pair.
2. Flip 4 steps - write your spellings out on word cards, then turn them over face down. Flip over a word card, look at the word, say it out loud, say the letters, then flip it back over and write the word on paper.
3. Trace, copy, recall - fold three columns on a piece of paper and label one column 'trace', the next 'copy' and the last 'recall'. Write the word in the first column and trace the letters. Next, copy the word by looking at what you've just written. Finally, fold and hide the first two columns and recall the spelling on your own as you write the word independently.
4. Stairsteps - write the words as if they are stairs, adding one letter at a time.
