School day times
For pupils in reception to year 6 the school day begins at 8.55am and runs until 3.30pm.
Nursery sessions are between 8.45am to 11.45am or 12.30pm to 3.30pm
Pupils in KS1 and 2 enjoy a break between 10.40am and 10.55am and stop for lunch from 12.00pm and 1.00pm. Timetables for individual classes can be found within the class pages.
Pupils are invited to arrive at 8.45am through any of the clearly signed doors at either corner of school. EYFS children should arrive through the EYFS door on the playground.
Pupils are dismissed from different doors for safety reasons:
Morning nursery - from the corner door (Boundary Road side)
Afternoon nursery - from the EYFS door
Reception, Y1 and Y2 - from the raised platform on the playground
Y3 and Y4 - from the corner door (Boundary Road side)
Y5 and Y6 - from the door at the back of the building (Boundary Road side)
Collecting Children From School
Safeguarding the children is our highest priority and in doing so we would ask that parents take account of the following in respect of the collection of children from school.
- Children should only be collected in session time with evidence of a medical appointment
- If a child is to be collected by someone not known to the staff in school, a password should be provided to ensure that the child is handed to the correct person
- If you need to change the arrangements for the collection of your child, please let us know in advance. If we are not aware of the change in arrangements we will call you to check that the request is legitimate
- If you direct a sibling to collect your child, they should be at least 14 years old (in line with NSPCC guidance) and have the maturity to take good account of road safety and stranger danger
- Children in Y5 and 6 may make their way home independently - please request a letter from the school office if you intend for your child to walk home alone. NSPCC guidance suggests that schools should have systems in place to ensure that children younger than this and making their way home independently, are of a level of maturity to cross roads safely and have an awareness of stranger-danger
School Closures
It is the policy of the school to make every effort to remain open whenever possible.
The decision to close the school either before or during the school day will be made by the Head Teacher.
The school will only close in extreme circumstances (e.g. The conditions on site are dangerous).
If the school is to close, the closure will be recorded in the following places;
• On the schools website www.beestonfields.notts.sch.uk
• The schools twitter account @Beeston_Fields
• Parents who have provided up to date mobile phone numbers will be alerted using the ScholarPack text service
• Local radio - BBC Radio Nottingham
