Mathematics teaches us how to make sense of the world around us through developing a child’s ability to calculate, to reason and to solve problems. It enables children to understand and appreciate relationships and pattern in both number and space in their everyday lives. At Beeston Fields, we have adopted the ‘mastery’ style of teaching Maths. To support this, we use the ‘Power Maths’ scheme of work in years Reception-Y6.
As well as their daily Maths session, children also access daily fluency sessions which work on the arithmetic skills needed for their age group. We also use Times Tables Rockstars in Years 3-6 in order to practise the key skill of times tables. Children can also access this website at home.
