Spring Term
Over the Spring term, children will be studying a number of units including: decimals, percentages, measurements, ratio and algebra. We will also be continuing the ground running with weekly arithmetic practise!
By the end of the year, we expect Year 6 children to be able to:
- Read, write and order numbers up to 10 000 000. e.g. counting in steps of 10, 100, 1000, 10 000 and 100 000
- Recall fraction, decimal and percentage equivalences between simple fractions. e.g. 1/5, 0.2 and 20%
- Recall common multiples and factors. e.g. factors of 24 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24 common multiples of 7 are: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84
Here are some fun videos to help learn times tables.
We will also be using Times Tables Rock Stars at home and in school as a fun way to practise times tables. We expect children to play at home for around 10 minutes at least 3 times a week.
How can I support my child in maths?
We expect your children to be fluent in all of their times table by this point, however we still recommend regular practise to help them improve their speed and recall.
