Welcome from the Head Teacher
A very warm welcome from the Head Teacher, Mrs Angela Huthart
I am the proud Head Teacher of Beeston Fields Primary and Nursery School and I would like to begin by welcoming you to our wonderful school. We have a long-established reputation as a 'GOOD' school serving a wonderfully diverse school community. We strive for excellence in all that we do and we make it our daily objective to show this in all aspects of our school life. All of the adults in our school work hard to demonstrate their own levels of excellence and relentlessness towards giving children the best possible quality of teaching and learning, excellent opportunities and providing our children with excellent role-models. Adults linked to our school are rightly very proud and work with genuine passion to ensure that the children get the best deal possible.
We have been part of the Flying High Trust since 2015 and have benefitted from the networking and professional development afforded by being part of one of the highest performing Multi-Academy Trusts in the East Midlands. We are also a hub school for teacher training as well as benefitting from partnering with the Flying High English hub and Futures programme. We aim as high for our staff as we do for our children.
There are two guiding principles which support our efforts every day. The first principle is that of excellence. Everything we do is led by our desire to show excellence...this might be in our approach to work, the way we treat others, the manners we use towards our peers and visitors or in the way we respond to new experiences. You will hear the word 'excellent' many times as you move through school. The second principle is that of empowerment. We want our children to feel empowered to be the best they can be, to make positive changes to their world and to achieve their academic and personal goals. We want our children to be empowered to show 'good character and heart' as well as striving for excellence.
These principles are supported by our mission to 'Look forward with pride and back with confidence'. We want children who come to this school to feel a sense of pride in their achievements and the contribution they make to their community and beyond. These principles are also supported by The Flying High Partnership Mission to be;
Unique
Exceptional
Sustainable
We are really proud of our achievements over the last few years, especially the strong progress made by pupils as they leave key stage 2 and ready for secondary school. The progress we make puts into the top 20% of schools nationally. We know that this is an important factor in school life but only as much as how it feels to be a pupil at Beeston and how this shapes us for future life. For this reason we place great emphasis on 'Responsibility' and as such offer as many opportunities as we can to develop pupil leadership - from class ambassadors to 'Young Interpreters', from hospitality team members to librarians. We know that this emphasis on leadership is inspiring across all groups linked to our school.
We also have a dedicated and experienced pastoral team to support children who may be experiencing emotional difficulties, grief or a lack of confidence. This team is experienced in delivering bespoke programmes to children of all ages to compliment therapeutic programmes delivered by external agencies. The Hive and The Honeycomb provide a safe and positive nurture space for children from across the school who may need a little extra support. This team is led by our Pastoral Lead, Frazer Pothecary who is also a specialist teacher for the Trust. The feedback we have had from parents about this resource is extremely positive.
Deciding on a primary school for your child is difficult so a good place to start is here on the website and by looking through our EYFS prospectus (below) but for further information about the wider school, please browse our website. I'm sure you'll feel our school through these pages but if you have the chance, please do come and visit... you can be sure of a very warm welcome.
With best wishes from a very proud and privileged Head Teacher,
Mrs Angela Huthart
