Maths
By the end of the year, we expect Year 4 children to be able to say:
- I can count in multiples of 6, 7, 9, 25 and 1000.
- I can find 1000 more or less from a given number.
- I can count backwards in ones through 0 into negative numbers.
- I can round to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 for any given number.
- I can recall the multiplication facts for all times tables up to 12 x 12.
- I can recall the corresponding division facts for all times tables up to the 12 times table.
- I can read the time to the nearest minute (including the 24 hour clock).
Children in Year 4 sit the Multiplication check and therefore will have frequent opportunities to practise their times tables. They will be concentrating on learning their 6x, 9x, 7x, 11x and 12x tables.
We will be using Times Tables Rock Stars at home and in school as a fun way to learn times tables. We expect children to play at home for around 10 minutes at least 3 times a week.
We also use BBC supermovers as a fun way to learn our times tables.
