In our Nursery, we follow the Flying High Maths plan which covers all the key skills and concepts needed to succeed in the Nursery year.  Here are our areas of learning for maths in Autumn term 1:

• Week 1 – settling in / counting / number rhymes.   
• Week 2 –My Daily Routines. To know language now and next is used to order events.   
• Week 3 & 4 – Digging Deeper – Numbers 1, 2 and 3. Know to subitise to 3.  Know how to identify size of group of up to three items (cardinal principle).  
• Week 5 - Counting principle 1:1 counting. Know how to accurately count up to 5 objects.   
• Week 6 – Comparing of amounts with 1,2,3. Know how to compare small groups of objects using the language big, small, more, less, same.   
• Week 7 – Matching and sorting. Know that a group can be split into smaller groups through sorting.
