Enquiry
This term our enquiry question is:
Do hard times develop strength?
This history based enquiry will give children the opportunity to explore how people showed strength during difficult times. For example the children will understand that people suffered during the Great Fire of London, but good things happened because of it e.g. the ending of the plague, the improvement of the fire service, improved building materials. We also want them to understand that Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell didn’t have it easy as nurses but their fight was worth it. We want children to understand that throughout the historic periods and the people studied, not all groups of people had the same experience but the importance of strength and how things have changed since.
