Do hard times develop strength?

Our driver for this enquiry is history. The children will be learning about the Great Fire of London. They will be learning about the idea of chronology, using historical sources to gather information and the significant people linked with the fire. They will also be learning about the nurses; Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell and how they showed immense strength during difficult times. We will be enhancing our learning with science where the children will look how the materials of the buildings affected the severity of the fire and in geography, with locating where the fire was, where it spread and where the nurses came from.
