We used pastels to create our own tiger pictures.
We have made repeating patterns in different ways. We can talk about them and know how to continue them. We love patterns!
This half term our learning journey is focused on 'Plants and Flowers'. We have been exploring the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We used our imagination and our knowledge of the story to draw some fantastic pictures.
As part of our celebration of Chinese New Year we sketched Chinese lanterns. We used our pencils carefully. We shaded and used lines to create the patterns we needed. We made sure we were Resilient Rhino...we did not give up, kept on trying and made sure we did our best! We are very proud of the sketches we produced.
We read each sentence and then looked carefully at the pictures of dragons. We thought about what we had read and chose the dragon which matched the sentence. We need to make sure we understand what we are reading.
We have been learning all about Chinese New Year. We looked at the Chinese dragon and put the numbers in the correct order.
We had to use our imaginations to work out what could be inside the egg.
We spent lots of time thinking about the egg and talking about it in our class.
We thought of words to describe the egg.
Then we did our own piece of writing to share our ideas.
Laurel Class spent the week beginning 9th November 2015 celebrating Diwali. We used the internet to help us find out about Diwali and the type of celebrations which happen. We made Diwali cards and special lights called Divas. We listened to the story of Rama and Sita. We worked as a team to make special Diwali sweets. It was great fun and we learnt a lot!
We have been talking about why we celebrate bonfire night with fireworks. We have learnt about Guy Fawkes. This week we had some reading and writing jobs all about fireworks. We had great fun pretending to be fireworks, dancing to music with bright coloured scarves. We designed our own model fireworks too!
Please have a look at the photos below.
We have been learning the story of the Little Red Hen and how she made bread without any help from her friends! Next week we are going to visit a real windmill!!
We have all been settling in very well and have been busy getting to know our environment and how to use it. We have been making sure we "Choose it, use it and put it away!" Mrs Leafe has been very impressed with our sharing and taking turns. We have started talking about our learning journey and it is up on our wall. We have all remembered our special rule 'Always try your best!'
We have been holding our pens and pencils using 'froggy legs'. Look at our patterns and pictures. Every morning when we come to Laurel carpet we get our whiteboard, pen, rubber and name card. Then we write our name and draw ourselves.
We have been using lots of different resources and equipment to create our own models, pictures and paintings.
We have been using scissors! It would be great if we could use them at home too, so we get even better and can cut really really carefully.
We have used our role play areas and the small world resources to tell our own stories. Look how carefully we have been looking at books. Look how we have been using letters too!
